Gives the Hammerheads a 5-0 victory in their first game.
Elijah Finney's pitching got them off to a good start striking
out two in a scoreless top half of the first.
As the Hammerheads came to bat in the bottom of the first
inning -Zak Sprankle reached first on a hit by pitch,
followed by a walk to Trevor Brueningsen.
Tommy Urban's Sac-Fly to left got the hammerheads on the
board with a one nothing lead.T.J. Cripe singled and
then stole putting runners on second and third,
Finney than singled off the right field wall bringing
in Trevor and T.J. ending the first inning
Hammerheads 3 - GA Academy 0.
Second inning was a quiet one as both teams were
three up - three down.
Pitching and Defense for the Hammerheads
continued in the top of the third with another quick
three out inning.
Bottom of third - Kameron DeWulf reached first
on a walk and stole second and then scored on a
great bunt for a hit by Brandon Murphy.
That would do it for the third inning as the
Hammerheads now lead 4 -0.
Top of fourth - Finney strikes out the first
two batters but then found himself in a bit of trouble
with two walks and a hit by pitch to load the bases.
He then struck out the next batter to get out of
the inning.
In the bottom of four Urban grounds out to short
Cripe lines out to left -Finney singles to right
but is left on base due to a strike out to end the inning.
Top of fifth: Brandon Murphy comes to the mound and is able
to pitch out of a two hit inning to stop the Georgia team's
rally.Bottom of fifth: Chris Keigharn hustles to first
beating the throw and then is moved over by a nice
Sac-Bunt by Brett Carter - Keigharn would later score
on an error made at first. Score 5 - 0
Top of sixth sees some soild defense by our middle infielder
- Wesley Oldham and Trevor Brueningsen.
Final Score Hammerheads 5 - Georgia Academy Panthers 0
Way to go Hammerheads!!!! Off to a great start. Gonna try to watch tomorrow during school if I can do it and not get caught. :-)
