In closing.....

In closing, it looks as though our Hammerheads finished a

remarkable 14th out of 104 teams for the week.

A job well done!

The players, parents, and coaches would like to thank

all of you who supported our child's dream.

We appreciate all of the interest in our blog and

we definitely could feel the love in Cooperstown

coming from all of you.

Closing Ceremonies and the Presentation of RINGS

During the closing ceremonies each player had their name

called.

They passed through the American Youth Baseball Hall of

Fame Induction arch and received their Hall of Fame Ring from

Louis Presutti - the founder of Cooperstown - at second

base.

The team was presented with engraved bats.

Each bat had the players name - date of the tournament

as well as the complete team roster engraved on it.

THANKS TO OUR COACHES

The boys got together with the help of some of the moms,

and signed and presented each coach with a team photo.

Our coaches - Tom Urban, Terry Cripe, and Mike Rendon

were absolutely WONDERFUL!!!!

They gave so much of their time and dedication to afford

our children the opportunity to have this experience in

Cooperstown.

We will never be able to thank them enough!!!!!!!!!

Game 9 Recap - Thursday Morning 6/10/10

Game nine against the Beyel Brothers of Cocoa Beach (FL)

would prove to be the end of the road for our Hammerheads.

With just four hours of sleep - morning and game nine

came awfully early Thursday.

The Beyel Brothers put up a quick nine runs in the first two

innings and never looked back as they defeated our boys from

Jupiter 11 to 0.

The Hammerheads never got anything rolling offensively -

tallying just five hits scattered over six innings.

The Beyel Brothers would prove this victory was no fluke by

mercy ruling their next two opponents to find themselves playing

for the championship on Thursday evening.

The Beyel Brothers ended up winning the whole tournament -

championship game was decisively won 12 to 0.

Game 8 Recap - Wednesday/Thursday Game

WHAT DAY IS IT?

With the first pitch of game eight thrown shortly after midnight,

our Jupiter Hammerheads took down the number ten seeded

New Lenox Rebels in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

In dominating fashion Colten Rendon sat down batter after

batter of the Rebels giving up just two hits through five innings

of work.

Rendon continued his domination at the plate going deep in the

first giving the Hammerheads a 2 to 0 lead after one. Brandon

Murphy added another in the second with a single and a great bunt

play executed by Kameron DeWulf.

Two more runs would be tacked on in the third with a single by

Wesley Oldham and a double by T.J. Cripe. Jupiter kept pouring

it on scoring two more in the fourth, two in the fifth, and three in

the sixth to cap off a 12 to 4 victory.

The game finished at 2:15 a.m.

Others adding hits were Trevor Brueningsen - a double and a single.

Rendon a double and a single. Zak Sprankle two singles, Brandon

Murphy a single and Chris Keigharn a single.

Time for bed - the boys have less than 6 hours before they have to

be back at the field again.

Game 7 Recap - Wednesday Night Game 6/9/10

This being the first elimination game of the tournament,

the Hammerheads picked right back up where they left

off Tuesday night. With solid pitching and hard hitting the

Hammerheads were able to defeat the Sandlot Bombers of

Utah 8 to 0.

Elijah Finney and Colten Rendon combined throwing 3

innings each - striking out 10 and giving up just 1 hit to

keep the Bombers scoreless.

Offensively, Wesley Oldham got things started in the third with

a two run shot over the left field fence. Tommy Urban would add

another home run in the fourth with a bomb of his own over the

right field wall. Singles by Urban and Zak Sprankle and a double

by Brandon Murphy would plate five more in the fifth to give the

Hammerheads an 8 to 0 victory.

Due to all of the rain earlier in the day this game did not finish

until after MIDNIGHT! The boys from Jupiter didn't get much rest -

as their next game was set to get underway at 12:30 a.m.

YES we started our 8th game of the tournament shortly after

midnight.

SWEET SIXTEEN BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We finally played our first single elimination game at 10:30 p.m

We played the Sandlot Bombers from Utah

Final Score Hammerheads 8 - Bombers 0

Our second game was against the number ten seeded team

New Lenox Rebels from Illinois

Game ended at 2:15 a.m.

Final score Hammerheads 12 - Rebels 4

Hammerheads Seeded 23rd

Out of the 104 teams playing in Cooperstown this

week the Jupiter Hammerheads seeded 23rd.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will now begin the single elimination part of

the tournament on Wednesday.

Our first game will be at 2:00 p.m. against a team

that is to be determined by previous games in the

bracket.

Game 5 Recap

Jupiter stuns the East Cobb White Sox with a ten run 5th inning

to upset the pre-tournament favorite. Colten Rendon pitched

the first three innings of the game and was absolutely lights

out, holding the hard-hitting East Cobb team to just one run

and a one to zero deficit through half of the game.

East Cobb got their offense rolling in the 4th though with the

help of some sloppy defense by the Hammerheads and some

big hits by the White Sox. By the time the 4th inning was over,

the East Cobb team had built a 6 to 0 lead.

The top of the 5th looked like it would be a tough uphill climb

as East Cobb brought in their flame-throwing closer to try to

finish off Jupiter. This would prove to be a hugh mistake as the

Hammerheads ripped him all over the field with 5 singles, a double,

and two home runs plating ten runs in the process.

The inning started with a Trevor Brueningsen single followed

by a T.J. Cripe hit by pitch. Next would come a walk to Colten

Rendon to load the bases. Zak Sprankle got things going for

the Hammerheads with a deep shot down the right field line

scoring two. Brandon Murphy would follow with a three run

shot over the center field wall and suddenly it was a 6 to 5 game.

Jupiter didn't stop there as Chris Keigharn singled followed by

Kameron DeWulf double in the gap. Brett Carter singled and

Wesley Oldham suicide squeezed to score Keigharn. This hit

parade was capped off with a Elijah Finney single and Brueningsen

home run. By the end of the 5th it was Jupiter 10 - East Cobb 6.

T.J. Cripe will score the 11th run on a hit by Zak Sprankle.

Colten Rendon was brought back in to pitch in the 6th and

the East Cobb players, coaches, and crowd left stunned.

Game 6 Recap

Game six saw the Jupiter Hammerheads face off against the

Lincoln Way Blue Demons out of Illinois. Going into this game

the Hammerheads were placed 28 out of 104 teams whereas the

Blue Demons were at 92.

Wesley Oldham pitched three solid innings allowing only two hits

and one walk. Brett Carter came in the fourth in relief

closing the game out in a 18 to 1 mercy ruling.

The eighteen runs for the Hammerheads came on hits from:

Singles: Elijah Finney, Trevor Brueningsen, Colten Rendon (2),

Zak Sprankle, Tommy Urban, Kameron De Wulf, Brett Carter,

Wesley Oldham (2), and T.J. Cripe (2). Brueningsen doubled

in the 4th and home runs were hit by Brandon Murphy and

Elijah Finney.
